In light of Mother's Day being last weekend (and a BUSY weekend it was for me) I to say some things about my mom. In usual fashion for me I want to let pictures help do the talking. But first I want to list some of the things that are most important to me about my mom.
1. My mom is one of the most Godly women I know. She is faithful in the Word and has taught all of her children what it means to follow Christ and live out what we are called to do by Christ. Mom thank you for hours and hours of Bible study which was always part of our curriculum and the first scheduled thing of the day. Thank you for chapters and chapters of scripture we memorized during that time and for countless other verses you helped us memorize for AWANA, VBS, etc.
2. My mom is a family person. She has raised 6 kids, has about a dozen nieces and nephews, and is probably the main person to always try and pull everyone together for family things. Her example of the way she pours into the lives of the people she's related to has made a huge impact on me and I want to emulate that in my own life.
3. My mom had at one point 6 full-time students ranging from kindergarten to high school senior. BOOM. Need I say more? She educated us herself and invested probably thousands of hours just reading to and teaching us, not to mention all those PTA meetings, hours checking out books from the library so she wouldn't have to buy them, used curriculum sales, co-ops, and field trips.
4. My mom is so creative! She always made the simplest things so much fun! Family activities were never boring or the same, she had the coolest ideas. She makes beautiful cards rather than buying the $12 ones from the store. She's great with coupons and sales and always comes up with frugal ways of using what she has to make do. (Something I'm slowing learning how to do...)
Mom is great at being serene in the face of chaos. (Unlike her pretend "freak out" face in this picture!)
Let's be honest, she made some cute kids.
Being a mom never stops even for a minute.
She loves my dad and has stuck by him through thick and thin.
She's a great friend, and does things like backpack even though it's not her first choice activity!
Back to the creative thing - this was my birthday one year and my mom made that adorable cake.
I can always turn to her for leading a devotion. My mom isn't an extrovert by any means, but she's not afraid of being in front of a crowd.
She's friends with in in-laws. =)
She's great at helping with crafts!
No words needed...
About those fun family activities...this was probably one of the craziest!
(Hope is trying to pop a balloon on Mom's lap!)
Words of wisdom at my graduation
Field trips...oh so many cool field trips!
Silly string duel on her birthday!
She really is a wonderful auntie!
I love you Mom. I could go on and on but I have to pack for my trip and then come to your house for dinner so...you know. =)
Wow...thanks Joy! That was very sweet.
