Family project: parkway remodel

So Dad has been in full blown "get it done" mode for quite a while now! It's been amazing to see him running and swimming all the time, and just see him tackling projects in his life with the vigor of a young man. Once he gets started on something, don't get in his way!

The parkway in front of my parent's house has been pretty ugly since they moved there over 12 years ago. The tree has grown up with roots that displaced dirt so it was mounded up and uneven. A couple weeks before Sarah's wedding he started working on it. This meant digging several hundred pounds of dirt up, severing roots so they can't grow anymore or ruin the sidewalk any further, sifting through the dirt to get all the stones and debris out, leveling the foundation, installing the new sprinkler system, tamping dirt back in, installing the paving stones near the driveway where cars run over the grass, more evening out the dirt, then installing sod.

This meant hours of hours of work, mostly by Dad. Joshy helped a lot, I did what I could when I was there, Josh and Mom pitched in too.

After many hours of work we were finally finished. (Well "we" were. Dad still had sprinklers to adjust and sod to tend to.) But it looks so nice! I wish I had a before picture but I was out of town when the project began and even then didn't realise what a big ordeal it was going to be.

Way to go Dad!
